Abstract

In order to protect the health of the farmers from natural radiation, the assessment of natural radionuclides concentrations (226Ra, 232Th and 40K) in soil and chemical fertilizers have been done. By using NaI(Tl) detector gamma ray spectrometer , the specific activities of 226Ra, 232Th and 40K in Bqkg-1  for four types of agriculture soil textures and seven types of chemical fertilizers commonly used in upper Egypt . The obtained results were compared with the global average and tolerable limits as recommended in UNSCEAR 2008.
